Titanic experiments
1st Apr 2026
Coming to the end of our topic on ‘The Titanic’, KS2 completed some experiments on floating and sinking.
We started with a basic sinking and floating experiment where we investigated which classroom objects sank or floated. We predicted initially and then each person had an opportunity to try out and conclude.
Following this, we compared what happened to a tennis ball and a clay ball in water. We then used our clay ball to shape into a boat, which we will test after Easter.
Finally we found out what happened an orange in water, firstly with its skin on and then without.
A great series of experiments which gave rise to in-depth discussion.
